2027 BMW 7 Series Just Debuted — Here's What It Means for Your Wallet

BMW just pulled the wraps off the refreshed 2027 7 Series and i7 at the Beijing Auto Show — and if you're in the market for a flagship luxury sedan, there's a lot to unpack from a financing perspective.

What's New on the 2027 7 Series?

The update is more significant than a typical mid-cycle refresh. On the outside, BMW cleaned up the front fascia with slimmer kidneys and a revised hood. For the first time ever, the 7 Series is available from the factory with 22-inch wheels. The rear gets stretched taillights that now extend toward the center of the trunk lid for a more dramatic look.

Inside is where it really gets interesting — BMW completely redesigned the dashboard around a 17.9-inch touchscreen borrowed from its next-generation Neue Klasse EVs. A 14.6-inch passenger screen comes standard — a first for the brand. The Panoramic Vision projection system stretches across the entire base of the windshield, and a new 3D head-up display reduces the need for a traditional instrument cluster.

Pricing — What Are We Working With?

Model Starting Price Powertrain
740 RWD $99,800 Inline-6, 394 hp
740 xDrive $102,800 Inline-6 AWD, 394 hp
i7 50 xDrive $106,200 Electric, 449 hp
i7 60 xDrive $124,700 Electric, 536 hp

What Does This Mean for DMV Area Buyers?

For a 740 xDrive at $102,800, here's a realistic payment snapshot for Maryland buyers — assuming a negotiated price around $98,000, standard fees, and BMW Financial Services programs:

Option Term Est. Payment Notes
Traditional Loan 60 months ~$1,800-2,000/mo At ~5.99% rate
Lease 36-39 months ~$1,400-1,600/mo Depends on residual & MF
Select Term 60 months ~$1,300-1,500/mo No mileage cap

* Estimates only. Subject to credit approval & BMW FS availability.

The Select Term Advantage on a $100K+ Vehicle

The Select Term option is particularly compelling on flagship vehicles like the 7 Series. When you're financing a $100K+ vehicle on a traditional loan, you're bearing the full depreciation risk — and luxury sedans depreciate significantly. The Select Term's residual value protection means you're only financing the portion of the car's value you actually use, while still enjoying ownership rights with no mileage cap.

After year 3, if the market value of your 7 Series exceeds the residual, you're in an equity position — meaning you can trade it in and potentially walk away with money toward your next vehicle. That's a compelling proposition for a $100K flagship sedan.

When Will It Be Available?

The 2027 BMW 7 Series enters production in Dingolfing, Germany in the coming months. U.S. deliveries are expected later in 2026. The V8-powered M Performance model and the 750e plug-in hybrid will join the lineup in 2027.
